WR1 ECU mapping
I have a 04sti with ppp. Is it possible to get the WR1 remap.
This seems the only difference between 300bhp and the 315bhp WR1.

Thanks, nick.
What other engine differences are they... I've not heard of any!
Please elaborate!

"that'll be the gear **** wr1 emblems and bigger wheels then!!!"
lmfao!!
Would be good to know though nick what the differences are so that any one modding there sti and not bothered about there warranty can do it safely, as you have obviously found a weak spot. After all we're all good chums on hear and we won't tell anyone

i seem to remember hearing something about an interesting way to map the wr1 and engine temperatures.... maybe the thermostat has been changed to help the engine run cooler therefore reducing heatstroke!!!!
but you do put 18" wheels on it which does help nick!!!
it even says so in the brochure for the ppp
so i wasn't totally wrong

Yeah, and its got 3 years warranty too!
Never mind the fact about insurance - "Is your vehicle modified from the manufactures specification in any way?"
To which you reply yes, to which your insurance company say
"OK then sir, please bend over while pretty much all of the office shaft you"

I know... the engine mods were on the one they tested doing 0-100 2.5 seconds faster than the same weight car with 15 bhp less... Ooohhh very controversial 9bhp per tonne never went so far! faster in fact than a Type25

Only complaint I have about the mapping is low down hesitation otherwise it is fantastic.

i know dazza yet another thread regarding the now cloak & dagger company called Prodrive
i presume because the wr1 is a model in it's own right prodrive don't have to say what exactly is done to it.
unlike when you buy a ppp you want to know what you're getting for your money.

[QUOTE=RobinSherwood]Spot on Shaun! My WR1 is more than £300 a year cheaper to insure than the MY98 Wagon with PPP, P1 wheels etc.,.. that it is replacing.
I use Subaru Insured, Had a modded 01 WRX went to STIPPP was circa £600 cheaper to insure, Group Arma prerate the PPP and WR1 because they know exactly what the manufacture has done, including the Prodrive work. If we alter like all owners wihout letting them know :- a, warrantty poss gone b) insurance void.
I find Group Arma to be the best, WR1 cost me £627 protected, ok I am an old fart, but cheep in my eyes

so back on subject anyone know what the mechanical difference is on the wr1 compared to a standard sti.
im going for the inpipe restrictor from the boost solenoid, will allow them to increase boost a smidge more by just replacing the pipe with a straight through larger diameter.
(and cost about 10p in parts )

chris' ... one reason I wish I was 25 is so that I can insured on the bad boy motors like the Type25 etc. I was actually 21 when I did the insurance for the WR1 - part of the reason it was so much.
