Default Police enquires

Just had police on the phone trying to find owner of my old sti8ppp i sold in may, it has been involved in an RTA and then left the scene. Bad news i think.

Did you not sent the papers off to DVLA ?

yes, but about 3 weeks ago had them sent back to me so i sent them back and i had a letter confirming this, i think the problem might be is i put a private plate on it then when i sold it i kept the plate, the police told me the car goes back to the original plate.

You cannot sell a car with a private plate.

You have to apply to take the reg off and they tell you that you must not sell the car untill you get the new registration documentation. Did you not get this documentation to fill in for the new owner?

The dealer done all the transfers, and i had a letter back from DVLA confirming this, i think there was a mix up at DVLA.
