pick up my first scooby today!
as the thread says I picked it up this morning at 10 o'clock.its a classic 2000 uk awd. This car is AMAZING!!!!!!! that turbo kick is just awesome! I have only had a day and this is the best car and most enjoyable car ive owned. I had a clio 172 before this but didn't think the scooby would be so much quicker due to it weighing more, little did I know! It handles so sweet as well, Im so pleased! Scoobies rock!!!!!!!!!!

ANT_1: You might like to check out a few insurance companies first - any turbo Impreza is likely to be expensive (if you can get cover at all) at 21.
Basically the different models are:
Classic shape ('92-'00)
UK supplied cars are badged Turbo 2000 and originally came with 208 or 215bhp depending on year. The WRX and STI models were Japanese imports only and came with between 240 and 280bhp, with 5 door models generally a bit less powerful than 4 doors.
'New age' ('01 onward)
All the new shape turbo cars are badged WRX, although the UK version is still only 215bhp (or 225bhp in the 2004 car). The UK gets the STI for the first time in 2002 (265bhp). The 2001 and 2002 cars have the unloved round 'bug eye' headlights, with the current rather more attractive shape for 2003 onward.
Prodrive is the company that builds the Subaru WRC cars (amongst others), and also produces an excellent range of tuning products which are supplied by Subaru dealers and preserve the factory warranty. For almost all the cars that have been released in the UK, they've made a 'Prodrive Performance Pack' or 'PPP', which increases power and torque across the range and is deservedly popular. Normally when someone refers to a 'Prodrive car', they're referring to one fitted with this pack. There are other Prodrive modifications too - suspension, styling, interior and so on - but the PPP is by far the most common and worthwhile.
With the PPP, the classic Turbo 2000 is lifted from 215bhp to around 245, the new WRX goes from 225 to 265 and the STI Type UK goes from 265 up to 305bhp.
To confuse things slightly, the 2002 STI came in two versions, the standard car and a 'Prodrive style' version. Both were mechanically identical, the difference was purely cosmetic.
< shameless plug >
I have a very nice UK car with PPP for sale if you're interested
