New Scoobie Owner
Hiya,
I am a new owner of Subaru WRX (Jap Import) its on a 95 plate.
Its an Auto and have been informed that Subaru never made an Auto in this car and the transmission must have been changed? Any one shed any lighs on this? What are the auto boxes like on this car?
The car has gas Bilstein Shockers as well.
Also i am looking to buy tome rear clusters (the ones founf on the p1, 22b or even the sti).
Anyone know the best place to buy this from? don't mind buying replica parts?
What kind of bhp is my car kicking out?

There have been autos produced - check out the SIDC FAQ for details. This essential document also describes the car's model history including power output. Yours should be good for about 240bhp IIRC.
Tip: check and make sure that your car has been remapped to run on UK fuel - Japanese fuel is higher octane, so running a Jap import without a remap or a combination of Super Unleaded + octane booster is asking for a dead engine.
Congratulations on your new motor - take it easy at first but enjoy

If its MY94 240ps (236bhp).
Much debate about petrol choice etc., I have a MY95 import always run on Optimax with no probs and a lot of others do the same.
I have only had mine a few months, and have been thinking about remap etc. and have done a lot of research. Popular opinion is as long as you don't up the boost then Optimax should be fine.
Ian.
P.S. Sti rear clusters are like rocking horse poo.....

STI clusters aren't hard to buy - you can get them from ScoobyMania amongst others. It's cheap STI clusters that are like rocking horse poo!
There are no replica STI ones available, although there are a good few alternative designs available. They're all horrible IMHO, but each to their own

Its easy to up the boost - you can get a Dawes Device for about £40, but I don't know what the limits are.
Do a search though I'm sure there are hundreds of threads about this

I think there's a pair of STI clusters on eBay right now.
If you're after more power already - and I'd advise getting used to the car and having it checked over mechanically first - your best bet is probably to talk to a specialist like Powerstation or Power Engineering. They'll be able to give you a much better idea about what potential your engine has for a bit more grunt without it disintegrating in a shower of big-end bearing fragments.
0.7 bar sounds a bit low to me, though I'm no expert. I'd certainly take it to a specialist for a once-over at its next service.
