Default Spirited Drive :)

On my way back from the gym tonight I decided to take a little 25 mile detour down some fantastic B-roads.

I have an MY03 STi and it was devouring the tarmac. My only concern was when slowing for some of the tighter 2nd gear bends if I let the clutch out quickly I could hear a sort of clunking/tap sound as it engaged. It did it once or twice in 3rd too. If I fed the clutch in a bit slower the sound wasn't there.

Anyone know what was making this sound??

It sounded a bit like the noise you hear as you engage a gear when stationary.

Any ideas.

Perhaps it was your diff making the noise? They do that sometimes.

Mine does this sometimes, although it's a classic. I put it down to the exhaust or some part of the drivetrain hitting the bodywork.

I can provoke it quite easily by being a bit more brutal that usual with the clutch or accelerator. Must mention it next time it's in for a service.
