BIT OF A SUPRISE :)
Whilst checking my colour code or my car i thought i would jot down my other details and look them up
My log book says my car is a 97R first registered on christmas eve 1997,but my model code is GF8FK8D which comes up as my98 facelift figure that?
The car does have new type bonnet vents, white dials, momo steering wheel and bigger alloys so does this all tally up to being an my98? also should my logbook be rectified to this?

I bought my first Impreza in October 1997 from Bentleys of Sheffield, and it was the first of the MY98 (Momo steering wheel, 5 spoke 16"' road wheels, white dials etc) they had recieved.
Prior to delivery they had no idea which model I would be getting.
So as previously stated your car is a MY98 but registered in 1997.
Manufactures model year designation is only for their marketing, not an indication of when it was built/sold.
My car took 6 weeks on the boat, and a couple of weeks at the docks having alarm/underseal done, so was proably built July/August 1997.

the manufacturer would have made it to a 98 spec although the log book says its 97R because thats when it was first registered, officially you'll only sell it as a MY97 but at the same time your selling a 97 with the 98 upgrade...

I am insured through Norwich Union Direct they told me it was a 2.0 GL I told them it was a WRX turbo and the DVLA was wrong, they have insured the car as a WRX (made 100% sure of that just in case i ever have to claim). The thought had crossed my mind though for about 20 seconds to just let them take DVLA records on face value......
