I'm in need of a new exhaust system and fancy getting a magnex stainless system and getting rid of the cats. Obviously I would get the car mot'd first, but does this mean that i will have to put the old system back on every year for the next mot? Is there any way to fiddle with the car to get emissions okay just for the test?
any other ideas?

Depends on what year and model your car is....some can get through decatted

Agree, mine goes through MOT when replacing standard centre only.

what year is your car, if its a newage stay away from the magnex system if you plan to put the centre cat back in, as the magnex downpipe includes the centre cat in one piece so to swap either cat back in you will have to swap the entire lot (down and cat pipe).

look at the exhasts the come in exactly the same pieces as the oem one, this will make life a lot easier.

hayward and scott would be a good starting point imo.
