Unhappy What to do after P1

Major dilema brewing for me. Have had a P1 for four years and really don't know what to go for next. Had a drive of a standard STi the other day and thought it was pants. Have a serious urge to go to the 'dark side' to find a car thats still fairly raw to drive. Anyone else gone from a P1 to an Sti and regretted it? Or worse still and gone to the other side ?

I think i would like to get my hands on an M3 CSL myself. I think its about the only car I would swap scoob for in that price bracket at the moment. Although £68K is a lot of money lol, but the sound is awesome IMHO. Once you've heard one of them barking through the forests of the 'ring' you will never forget the sound

I agree with Daz34, go for a Type 25......One thing for sure is you certainly wont see many others on the road.

Had a P1 until very recently; ordered a WR1; cancelled; ordered a (Type 20) JDM Twin Scroll STI from Iain Litchfield (same spec a T25 in every respect bar the extra .5 litre) plus I'm having the spec C fuel pump and water pump fitted. For me, that was the way to go (short of the T25) for similar money to the WR1. Just waiting for it to fall off the boat!

Even EVO's are more refined now.

If you want RAW you really can't beat a JDM STi Spec C.

Drove it and loved it before getting the JDM STi GL to keep the family happy.

How about an utterly involving driving experience ! http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/detail.asp?i=23326

My car before this was an extremely sorted sti5 which was fantastic,

Most peeps i knew were...

"why on earth did u get rid of that impreza"

until i took em out in the megabusa! ...a different level!

I have just been in the same dilemma. Choices:

WR1 - nasty colour, I won't buy a car I can't test drive (no other UK Sub comes close to being better than the P1)
Spec C - just fabulous, but I didn't want the hassle of selling the P1 privately, nor the pain of having the dealer miles from me
Type 25 - Ditto Spec C, you payes yer munny and takes yer choice
The Dark Side.
Something non-J.

I have chosen the dark side and gone for a 340 (well actually 320 with the 340 power upgrade as I don't like leather and sat nav). Easy to do, local enthusiastic friendly dealer, local warranty. Nice car. How nice? I'll tell you when I've had it for a year.

Maybe you should try STI with PPP before you decide, chalk and cheese.

I tried going from a 22B to a UK MY03 STIPPP and regretted it. Luckily I kept the 22B so I could sell the newage.
From P1 I'd go to Evo6 TME, S202 bugeye, Spec C blobeye, STI6 type R (or RA) or 964/993.
Newage UK scoobs don't do it for me..perhaps if they had the sti quickrack. Haven't been in a WR1, heard mixed reports, but definitely wouldn't buy without a good testdrive.

i used to have a p1, luved it but needed less on finance, got an 02 sti, had it ppp,d, never really did it for me, now got an evo 6 rsx, lightweight car, far quicker than the sti standard, having a stage 1 upgrade later this week, its more like the p1, the sti was too heavy and grown up for me, a great car but not for me

In my search, I drove the ppp which was a step back after a P1. I drove Ian Litch's red Spec C Ltd demonstrator which was fab and the Evo, also great.

In my case I went for the easy option of local dealer, UK warranty and trade in and have the Evo on order.

With Mitsubishi's financial troubles, I would feel uncomfortable having to rely on them for a warranty!

Thanks Guys

I thought i might be in a minority and just didn't understand the new STi. I felt it was a step back in the driving experience after having a P1. The new age STi just doesn't seem to have the urgency (admittedly i've not driven one with PPP) and as mentioned in one of the earlier posts its 'a little too grown up' for my liking. Does the WR1 deliver it's power much different from the standard STi?

On the dark side, I thought that the new MR evo's look more aggressive (certainly no oil painting but then neither is an Impreza) than the current STi to.
I've also toyed with having a evo vi as that car was the last of an era especially the Tommy Makinen edition and just to keep it even, I may give Litchfields a call to have a test drive in a type 20 or a spec C which I guess are very different to the UK spec car.

Sod it, I'll buy a 4x4 pickup and save the tax !!!

I in the same boat . The P1 has just turned 3 years old now. TBH nothing at all in the official range swings it for me. The best thats thetre is the WR1 and IMHO its an ugly ducking.

Was toying with the idea of a 22b, but ill want to use it as an everyday car, and ive been put off with scare stories.

The way i went was to extend the warranty, and i think ill mod it up when that runs out. For me its the perfect car

Got to be an Evo. I went from a modded UK car, which would have been similar to a P1 to an FQ300, and the difference is huge. Also, tested a PPP'd STi before deciding, and personally the Evo felt a quicker in a straight line, and like it would destroy an STi on the twisty stuff.

The other thing which influenced me, was the number of scoobs on the road, and the fact that they all look very similar. I know that there are more Evo variants know (d'oh!), but still a lot rarer than scoobs.

good point about Mitsubishi's financial state. Looks like they are ok for the time being with the re-financing plan that got put in place.

Gone from a UK STI Bugeye + PPP to an EVO MR FQ340
Brought back the fun that was part of my old (lightweight!) classic shape STI Scooby and sadly lacking in the stoggy UK STI (No quicker in the real world than a uk standard old shape with ppp)

Try one before you dismiss it, it will make you smile I promise you.
