Default 2002 STI and STI UK

Just getting some quotes for insurance online for a 2002 STi7 and have noticed that it gives in the options of cars in 2002 a STi 01> and a STi UK 02>02 and when you get a price the UK one comes in £300 cheaper!! Where there 2 diffent models?? Also noticed there is no UK STi for 2003 models.

Anyone help??

There were 2 UK STI models for that year.

the STI Type Uk and the STI Type UK (Prodrive)

Its probably the STI Type UK coming in cheaper than the Prodrive version.

Don't know why you cant see an STI for 2003?, i've saw them on Admiral etc site.

There were some imported ones from Europe. I suspect that it is giving you a cheaper price for the genuine UK model.

Austen,

Should be the same quote - Although there was a difference in price when new they were/are the same Grp 20. Also identical bhp (262) etc. The Prodrive just had some more suspension and cosmetics IIRC.

IIRC suspension was identical.

Think it was all cosmetic both external and internal - something to do with the dials I think?

Tesco quoted me 300 less for the Type UK prodrive...
but not for the STI Type UK MY03 with prodrive pack added... all very confusing... i plumt to pay extra and add the prodrive kit as a power hike!

Prodrive version had Blue dials, Big Wing, skirts, deeper bumper and cost 27.5k new. The base versiuon had a small (more gay friendly ) spoiler etc etc.

When I bought my MY02 STi Type UK Prodrive style I kept the insurance with Direct Line as there was no advantage in changing at that time.

Very strangely - the prodive style came out cheaper than a MY02 STi and didn't need a tracker either !

I queried this twice and eventually spoke to a supervisor who admitted they couldn't understand why there was a difference.

Another bizarre one.....

When I got my insurance from elephant, they have 2 models listed as being "WRX STi TYPE UK", one which is 2002 onwards, and one which is 2004 onwards. Peculiar!! Anyway, I chose the 2004 onwards one, as mine is a showroom model..... darned cheap quote (only £100 or so more than a standard WRX).
