ScoobyNew
Hi
I am new to the world of Subaru, i just got myself a 02 WRX in black, with 7000 miles. I reckon its not had a service since 1000 miles, so i think it will need one soon.
I live in Preston and i wonder if anyone can recommend a decent place to get it serviced, the nearest one to me is Gibsons of Brock, but i know nothing about them. oh and what type of service will get done and how much should i expect to pay
thanks
m

Careful
Visit the subaru website for your nearest dealer.
As the car has missed the 12 month service interval by at least 6 months then you are potentially out of warranty, even though the mileage interval has not been exceeded Therefore you may consider going to an independent rather than the Subaru main dealer route. (If the car is modded then your warranty may be void anyway.)
If Euro import 7500 service intervals then you can wait 500 miles and get the mileage right.
If UK with 10000 mile intervals then I would get an intermediate oil change done and then go for a full service at 10000 miles.
Depends how many miles you do per annum.

The car was 1st registered in 10/2002. Its a UK car, and cost £13k, and it totally standard, like i say its got 7500 miles on it. How can i find out whether i am out of my warranty ?...
Someone recenlty told me that Subaru have 1/2ed there servicing/parts prices, is this correct ?

Service
The normal figures that I have seen quoted are +/- 500 miles or +/- 1 month to maintain the service schedule and hence the manufacturer's warranty.
If the car was bought from a dealer and he said it still had the balance of manufacturer's warranty (3 years from new) then no worries, I would go immediately for a service.
You need to find out what the service intervals are, do you have the book? IIRC 10000 miles for UK car.

10,000 or 12 months (whichever first)
If you maintain your service interval with Subaru you have an option to buy a further 2 years of warranty in addition to the 3 you already get.
Nice buy mate, well done you got a bargain

Gibsons of Brock has been recommended to me, although I've never been there. Took my car to Riding & Co. in Preston recently (near the docks), as they are an official dealer. They also quoted me a cheaper price for the 45k service than Gibsons too. Only thing is that they're still a fairly new dealer - they stamped my book with their Honda stamp! :-( Oh, and they gave me a mint-green Honda sodding Jazz as a courtesy car! :-0
