Default 330 miles @ 28mpg!

Hi,

just got back from a week in cornwall - and made the return journey on a single tank of optimax! travelled the whole way at a steady 90, cough I mean cough 70, and only used 53 litres. AND I had a really embarrasing roof box! Only thing I did differently was to never really exceed 3500 revs and only accellerate gently. Still, shows they can do it!

(it was v boring though, and since Ive been back Ive done about 30miles on a 1/4 of tank, oh well back to normal then!!! :-)

MY04 WRX Wagon btw...

cheers

The economy is there if you have the willpower!

I managed 32.8 mpg on over 200 miles on the M1 at steady 70- 80mph. Which isnt bad considering the car has 282bhp (00MY) and had the air con on and 30kg of ICE in the boot. Was surprising because the 1st 60 miles or so was at a good 30mph higher speeds.

When there is low boost/low revs/low throttle opening the economy is surprising.. just needs strong willpower to resist the temptation!

Probably could be pretty economical if you had cruise control - has anyone fhad it fitted ?

The ecutek remap must have helped the economy off boost, if anyone is considering it then i cant reccomend it highly enough.

the last trip home to scotland had an impressive 180 miles for 51 liters and then a more sober drive home and acheived an amazing 370 miles to the fuel light - that was after the total bollocking from 'er indoors about arriving in scotland 3 hours early :-)
