Default MY05 rumours

Does anyone know what to expect the changes to be in the MY05.

I have just been told by my dealer that he wont be able to find me a MY04 wagon WRX in Silver because they are sold out and no more being produced because of the new model later in the year.

What should we expect for 05..... more power ? facelift ? better stereo ?

Any guesses or informed opinions out there ??

Probably limited to cosmetics in the case of the UK wagons.

If our cars follow the pattern established by the US market ones, expect a new centre console and dash assembly that mirrors that fitted to the Saab 9-2X, which will, in all likelihood, incorporate a new entertainment system, yes.

The saloons seem to have wider wheels and matching arches, but the wagons are narrower track anyway so there may not be any changes there.

New models appearing later this year.
Wider arches at the rear and longer wheelbase among other things.

Hi,

On the longer wheelbase, are they:

1) Pulling the front wheels forward to reduce front overhang (and understeer)
2) Pushing the rear wheels back (cant think of an advantage over 1)
3) 1 & 2
4) Stretching the whole length of the car

Anyone know?

Simon

I spoke to I.M. this morning and they wouldn't confirm it but the bloke told me to check out Scoobynet!! Apparently the I.M. boys are going to Japan end of August/ start of September to find out what changes will be made.
Maybe we won't see the changes til next year?

MY04 cars arrived in January so you've got a long wait if the same is true for MY05 cars. Have you tried ringing round the dealer network instead?

I know its more cash but the SL wagon is excellent (I've got one!) so perhaps look for one of those instead?

Defo new interioir.... they will be selling them from Sept.

Oustside doesnt seem that different.

LOL at the dealers... they are now left with MY04 stock.. so they are hardly going to tell you "oh yes sir - new model out in Sept - please dont buy one of my old cars" are they

If thats right - given that the final WR1's will probably still be coming through the system in August/September - If I was receiving one, wouldn't be too chuffed about the new MY coming out at the same time.

Is it just me that's really fed up with the continual revisions ? Do you remember how strong the residuals used to be for the classics ? Largely because a 'new' impreza wasn't coming out every year.

Every new model impacts the residuals of the predecessor, and tbh, it's really putting me off buying a new STi. I want to, and I probably will because I want to, but when ? Do I wait for the next update ?

£25k STi's are selling for £17k a year old, over 30% depreciation in year one. Bugeyes ? Worth very little now. Classics ? as a direct result, these too are changing hands for too little.

It's really bad brand\product management on Subaru's part, and it's putting me off of buying.

Rant over, thanks for listening

Matt
