Differences betweem uk & imported?
Hi all,
This is my first post here.
(i hope this hasn't been posted a million times before... i apologise if it has)
I am seriuosly thinking of getting an impreza turbo but after looking into insurance it seems a uk version is about £400 a year less to insure than an import.
Is this because there are major differences in the performance? or because of parts & stuff being harder to come by?
I would appreciate any info on the differences between these 2 models.
Cheers

Same problem
Just orderd an imported WRX, picking up two weeks time. Some of the companies wont even give price because its an import.
Basically its the same spec us uk model but alarm is classes as cat 2. whereas uk has Cat 1 alarm. Norwich union has quoted me £680 and my current insurers £640 direct line, but need cat 1 alarm and tracker!! another £900 on top of £16500!!!!

So they are exactly the same....
I take it the imports are a bit cheaper to buy then?
£680 to insure an import!! hell.. how old are you (if you don't mind me asking)
I'm 26 with 5 years no claims & no points.. I've been quoted £677 for a uk & £around £1100 for an import!!
Now if i could get £680 for an import i think i'd go & buy one now! there doesn't seem to be that many uk models from what i've seen around my area at the moment :-(

Search on JDM STI. They are quite different (better) than the UK & EURO spec STI
In short;
Better engine internals
Centre diff
Quick steering rack
Twin scroll turbo

Hello mate,
What vintage of scoob are you talking about? I believe as the years have passed the differences have become less.
Are you talking about an import from japan(possibly been in the uk for many years, possibly it came here as new?)
Or do you mean an import from the EU? (I think thats what cornish blue is talking about.)
Theres so much info possible to give its not really practical to do so. but...
If its a classic scoob you mean, then anything badged wrx or sti is an import. I believe the classic uk model was always called turbo 2000. The jap imports have always been faster as standard than uk. STI = fffffast.
The newage scoob in the uk also takes on the name wrx and sti dependant on model but I think i'm right in saying they are still lower powered than JDM.
Try this for starters...

Its all so confusing and I apologise in advance if i'm talking out of my hoop!!
Cheers and Good luck.
Ritchie.
