22B number 9 - whats it worth
I Have decided to sell up. Its number 9 (import one) 15K miles on the clock original and mint in every respect.
Have had it on a forecourt at £29k for a while with no takers. Do you think I am asking too much or is it just a function of time.
I also have a MY03 STI which i suppose is woth around £20k ( not for sale). i figured the B was woth half as much again - she is a beaut! and a brute!
any one got any thoughts?

IMHO yes it is too expensive for an import. Ive seen the official uk ones cheaper than that from dealers. I know 2 imports going for 26 and 27k, but they have very low mileage.
Was offered a good deal for my car for a 22b from stan palmer last week, his is up for 25 i think.

But remember that Palmers car has about 40k on the clock and is on its 3rd or 5th engine (depending on who you talk to). It needs a bit of tidying up too with some dodgy paint work. Was used as a track car by a rally driver and looks like it. Far too expensive in my eyes.
But the other 2 imports seem suggest that your car is worth about £25k-£26k. But it all depends on whether there is someone looking for a 22b at the time your selling and how long you are willing to wait.
I have to say that mine was close to the Palmers one in price but only had 22k on the clock. That was last August.
Dave.

I've got a 22B (so maybe a little biased) but I think the price is right for a true, original, mint 22B. Soo many have been tinkered with these days, it's very hard to have faith in the engine after some hacks have played with them. So it's just a matter of time before someone who really wants a good one comes knockin on your door IMHO. Litimports are also selling a mint low milage import for £30k right now.
I've thought about getting a second one, but that'd be greedy! LOL

here's the place thats selling two, I know the co-owner of the firm.
http://www.svaimports.com/forcort.htm
The first car was offered to me for 24k, and they say it's in tip top.
Interesting about stan palmer, he didn't tell me that on the phone lol
The car isn't his but a customers, no warranty and the new engine carries no warranty either. Wasn't even tempted when i heard that.
If it hasn't sold for a good while at a price then its too high. Obvious question but have you advertised it in top marques?

I know many 22B's that have blown up, both type UK and imports, modded and standard.
I don't know many people who've managed to get more than 8k miles out of the OEM clutch (Excedy)
Getting original 22B specific parts can be huge hassle.
Crash it, or blow the engine up, and you could be in for a long wait to rebuild the puppy.
Mine ain't for sale though, love it

The clutches are a problem, but relatively easily fixed. We've rebuilt 2 engines last year, one from Spain with a melted piston and the other from Ireland with a rattly crank.
I'm sure a sensible remap will cure most and wouldn't put me off owning one.
Body panels will be a big problem as they aren't available, so insurance may be higher than expected [ if Tesco figure it out ].
However, the prices [ about 25 / 26K is my opinion for fair use] may just begin to steady or even rise as they won't pass the new ESVA test thus no more should be able to be imported and I can't see anyone forking out for a model report to be commissioned for them in such a small production run and a relatively old car these days. [ No offence meant - fireproof undies on ]
