Default What car next....

Following on from my Defecting to the dark side!!! thread, lets have a show of hands for each model

Cast your votes as to what car you'd chose next, and please state which model you own just now in order that your "logic" may be judged!

You can chose a car not in the list, but this is my list so I'd like to see how others rate the motors.

I appreciate that these cars do not all come under the same price bracket so I've listed the price I would expect to pay for the particular year of car I'd opt for.

I can't!

You'll see in my original thread that I said
and already I'm thinking about what car to get next even though it'll be at least 6 months away.....
A guy can dream can't he?

Besides, I've got to have something to look forward to!

Hey, if the RB doesn't go, then I'll still have that.

I'd go for the tvr. Sounds as good/better than the scoob, and you wouldn't have to spend money modding it, so it will be saved to pay for th repairs.

has to be a BMW. My wife would bury me under the patio before letting me buy anything else. she still hasn't forgiven me for buying 'a tractor' (WRX 03)

How about a Tavia vRS?

£15k for the car, £1 on remap and zaust, £1k on suspension and £1k on brakes.

Should be a good Q car.

For me it has to be a TVR

I know you wont be able to drive for the next 6 months, so get the TVR now, as you wont be able to drive it when you are able

So it will still be sat on your drive looking v cool

I'd go for the Evo, residuals are good, great drive, and a little bit different.

I'm not a BMW kind of guy
The Ford is well a ford
Tvr too impractical
P1 nice close second
Wr1, not able to predict values yet

And the Poll
P1 - To close to your MY00 to feel like a big enough change
WR1 - Why not a T25/T20/Spec C/STi 8?
M3 - Too soft and common
FRS - 215 horses through the front wheels!, no thanks.
EVO 6 - Mental Tin can like a Scoob, but if you want comfort see M3
330 - not in this company! why not drop top M3?
TVR - A dream, but strictly second car.

I would personally save for a T25 and have a Sniff at an R34 V-Spec

Ps - i've driven none of the above so i'm not really qualified to comment

Since it's your list i've voted P1 as i was thinking of getting one next. However in all honesty, i've got my sensible head on today and am actually thinking of getting a Mitsubishi L200 Warrior with leather interior as my next motor.

I miss the load carrying capacity of my old 110 Land Rover but need something i can still use every day, and doesn't leak like a sieve. Something that does more MPG then the Scooby might be nice too!

I'd've suggested a Legacy for you myself But since I drive one, I would wouldn't I?

Take the WR1 because it is the ultimate IM backed model on your list (P1 is getting a bit older now IMHO).

If a JDM was an option the spec C would be a nice option IMHO, perhaps even a new twinscroll Legacy GT spec B even if a grown up Scoob is required

Must admit you've got a pretty nice fall back

Over the past 10 years or so, my right shoulder has deteriorated as a result of injury through training/competing, so its time it was "fixed" before it gets any worse.

Ok after 71 voters, the scores on the doors are..............

Evo VI...26.67%
WR1......22.67%
P1.........20.00%
TVR.......18.67%
M3..........8.00%
330ci.......4.00%
Focus.......0.00%

I appreciate that on a Scooby BBS, the Imprezas and even the Evo will always feature highly, so I'm taking these figures with a pinch of salt

I dare say that the same poll on a BMW or RS forum would have their respective marques trouncing the others.

Interesting that not one person would choose the RS though......

Overall, it would probably be the cheapest to run out of all my choices in terms of purchase price, insurance, fuel, residuals.

Conclusion -:

I still have no idea which one I would buy!

I voted for the Cerb, and not only because I have one. For sure, it's infuriating when something goes wrong with it, but it looks and sounds fantastic and goes very quickly indeed

Should be able to get an early ('96) 4.2 for around £15k, but budget on spending £3k to sort it.

Ive owned An Evo6, Scooby and an RS.. And i would have to say that the RS is a fantastic car to own and run. It may not be as fast as the others, but as an everyday car on public roads it can hold its own with my other two cars when driven propely.

However as the list includes other cars, such as evo (my fav : and scoobys etc, even I who have owned one would have to tick another (not because its a ford or anything like that) But your just comparing it with the wrong sort of cars, if you giving people choices like what you have. Now if your criteria was about economy, residuals etc then maybe people would choose the Scooby *cough* i ment RS! Wich is why i originally purchased one. The RS gets just as many looks as my evo/scoob did, and has quite alot of road presence in the flesh. Its great fun to drive, suffers hardly any tourque steer and is a very nice car to own.

But it just doesnt give me the kick's evo's and scooby's do. If i had a choice I would permenently have one as a 2nd car.. Anyway, roll on the spec c!

Wink

if i happened to get a 500% pay rise, i reckon it'd be a tvr, but i'd prob want a tuscan, bout 26k, running cost are ridiculous though, even compared to the other relativly high ones in your poll.

being (slightly) serious, an evo6 or if i could stretch that little further, a P1....

i'm voting evo 6 BTW a black one mmmmmmm
