Anyone know where I can get some mud flaps for WRX, that don't cost £160.00?

Try Grade A subaru

http://www.gradea-subaru.co.uk/

£80 plus VAT

Having said that, im looking at making my own, since the mud flap subject has been dragged up again, i would appreciate names of places that supply the material

Sorry to hijack the thread

CEL the brackets are very expensive to make and are difficult to get the exact sizes without actual physical templates, I tried this route and fell lucky picking up an old set of mudflaps so i could nick the brackets and bought some Red Flap material

Need someone (helpfull !) with a set of brackets to use as templates, have them profile cut then order the mudflap material. Usually a couple of suppliers in the motoring news.

Doc,

Have you have seen the templates on http://www.ravensblade-impreza.com/ ? Was thinking about giving it a go using these... the ones ive seen so far dont drop low enough to the ground for my liking. Do you think the brackets are essential, thought maybe the proper fixings and washers would do it??

P@ul
Subaru !
Part numbers SACC3348 and SACC3349
When I asked about mudflaps at the main dealer parts counter and said I'd heard there were some generic ones, he said "Oh what the 3348 and 9 part numbers ?". He let me buy them on sale or return in case they didn't fit, but they are pretty good. I found out about them on here some months ago.
They are moulded to the body shape, which doesn't fit perfectly on an MY03 WRX, but you'd hardly notice. After a bit of pondering about how best to modify them and mount them, they fitted as standard. Result

£150 +VAT per pair, or £21 inclusive for 4 was a no brainer.

Try the company below who do a number of options. The budget ones are about £35 for 4, but need cutting to shape etc.

I would definatly get a price on the stainless steal brackets before you think of making your own, the mud flaps themselves are easy to make and only cost £30 but the brackets are another story they have numerous bends etc and cost a lot to make for a one off job.
See here:
http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/showthrea...=RED+MUD+FLAPS

IMO the Ravensblade ones dont look that great tbh :/

Gibson.. i do apologise for hijacking your thread mate. Hopefully some of the info here will be of use to you too?

tmo... do you know if they had different coloured material?

Thanks spyinthecamp.. i've seen those before but wondered if they are big enough? need to get the tape measure out i think.

Doc, agree with the comment re ravensblade flaps.. im thinking of making minor mods to the orignal pattern though

Speaking to someone about the brackets and dont think they are really necessary. Stainless or annodised bolts/self tappers plus washers should work just fine

The front ones don't need brackets (if the flaps are stiff) and the rear brackets can be fabricated out of a metal corner shelf bracket which you bend to fit with a vice.

Thats just one way to do it on a budget.

I would personally not fit mud flaps without brackets they would get ripped off, if needed I have the exact sizes of the brackets and Flaps (sti pattern) for anyone who would want to get them made, PM me and I will sort it for you.

The pukka Kaylan flap material can be bought from http://www.kaylan.co.uk/frame.html
I was quoted £160 for a sheet 3m x 610mm x 3mm which would make 3 sets at a guess.

They are big enough as I have a set on my 03 wrx. The front did not need any bracket whilst the rear was made out of a scrap piece of SS which took about 15mins to create with a hammer and vice.

I would expect that the brackets should cost no more than £20 for a set of 4 to be manufactured, what price they would be sold at after profit i am not so sure. I have a set from a scooby world, with bends and a number of washers, bolts etc.

the material is reasonably expensive (with the european steel increase - thanks Corus!), then laser cutting, but i would argue that the bending is pretty easy as the radius's are large and angles are pretty large.

before people start to disagree this is what i do for a living!
