Question Anyone know what these are for?

If you lift the boot carpet and expose the hardboard spare wheel cover there is two black straps with push buckles on the ends attached to the board what are they for?

I always wondered about that too!

Was on my 98MY and 99MY RB5, but I don't recall seeing it on the 03MY STi... must have a look!

Maybe its of some use if you put a full size wheel in the boot when your running on the space-saver?

The sawn off shotgun fits there very well

Not sure, is it for the Subaru tool kit?

It's for the toolkit, and it's a waste of time.

IIRC the toolkit is just a spanner for the wheel nuts, a philips screwdriver and another general purpose spanner.

I don't see how it could attach to the strap though without sliding out the side. the toolkit in my two classic scoobs was always in the boot pocket with the jack when delivered!

I find the straps very useful for keeping my subaru umbrella from rolling round the boot!
(have it clipped in on top of hardboard)
