Hi there,

Anyone out there had their MY02 STi Tek 3'd and then run on a dyno.

What were your results ?

What was the spec of your car ?

Are you happy ?

Many thanks. This will help in my decision

Not quite..... mines an MY03 STI.. Ecutek'd by Powerstation.

Decat down pipe, standard centre section, Prodrive B/B.
Green Air filter.

Dyno'd at 292bhp.

They recon'd a figure closer to 300 with a full de-cat.

The car is way smoother on power delivery, and pulls like a train, changing down to overtake is now not always required.

Just all an round improvement!

Do not regret it at all.

Power Engineering exhaust system (twin dump downpipe & sports cat in centre section) with ECUTEK remap.

Was showing ~318bhp & 300lb/ft on the PE rollers.

However the proof is in the driving. Pulls cleanly to the redline whereas the PPP runs out of steam at 6500rpm. Mid range is amazing.

Have you seen the new Evo?

Same mods as Dark above got 317 hp and 292 lbft on PE rollers directly after remap in Feb03.
2 months later gave 308 hp and 293 lbft on PE rollers.
In Feb04 gave 299 hp 285 lbft on G-force rollers.
In April04 had map tweaked by Merv of Ecutek at PE using latest Ecutek software which raised power on day from 304 to 308 hp and increased low end and high end torque.

As the above illustrates my car has shown a 20 hp variation depending on the rolling road and day, which says alot about how you should interpret rolling road figures.

Basically the remap has increased drivability by flattening the torque curve. On the road max boost (1.4 bar) comes in around 3000 rpm and the car keeps on accelerating with no let off to 6500 rpm at which point I change up before I run into the red line!

I have the PPP fitted to my MY03 sti. Had on rollers at Engine Advantages in Whitham last summer and got 280 BHP and around same figure for Torque... Wasnt soo happy But everyone that day got low figure to what they thought they should have got....
Its now Decatted
and 3 months ago I went to A G Force Rolling Road day and got 318 BHP and 309 Ft LB torque
However the boost is all over the shot and it does need a remap the car has following: ITG Panel Filter, With resonator Removed, Decat and Rear center section (Both H&S)
Still happy with the results to be honest for just a decat and filter!

Ive just got a MD304 turbo and H&S Rear box to go on so going to stick them on and get the main man Pat to remap for me.
So will post up figures from that once its done.... Doubt I will get huge gains but I am hoping for smother delivery and torque lines. But will have to wait and see!!

About the same.

I chose the ecutek route because at the time PPP came without an uprated fuel pump and was a piggy back ecu. Also there had been a couple of PPP Sti engines blow up - possibly fuel pump related. The current version of PPP is much better than in 2002, although not as good as a bespoke map for your car. I chose the ecutek route because of the better results, the belief that the engine was less likely to blow up than with PPP at the time and more flexibility for future mods. Also Subaru were claiming that the warranty on the engine would be invalidated even if you changed the backbox, which I would have done if I had gone for PPP.

Have a look at this months EVO magazine which compares some of engine tuning packages available for STis.

My My03 JDM STi is going to be remapped (well there is a good chance anyway ) but just for now, running the standard exhaust (but hayward and scott back box and an STi Panel filter) shes pushing approx 300bhp and 310lbs of torque
