Default What's the most power a WRX can handle

Hi ... as an option I am considering getting a new WRX and modding it somewhat!

So, what is the maximum engine power a WRX can be taken to with standard diffs/clutch/gearbox without changing internals or block and what does it take to get the engine to that level of output?

Hi welcome to S/net

I'm Running 274BHP & The same torque figures on My 01 wrx, To get to this it has been Fully de catted & a Teq 3 Custom re map, K/N Panel filter

Seems a safe option, Without major engine work, Feels like a complete new car as appose to the one i got out the box back in Sept 2001

Leave it standard

5spd gearboxes are ****.

They brake around 350bhp and 350lbft..

Or try and get hold of parts from the new sti when people upgrade..

Fuel Pump
Injectors
Fuel Pressure Reg
Bigger Intercooler
Bigger Turbo
Air Filter
Exhaust
Remap

Its downhill from then on.

Id just buy an sti..

Was running 351 bhp on my MY01 before the last lot of Mods.

Still running standard clutch/gearbox and internals

We will see how long they last

Ta for the replies .... I fancied a new car and wondered how far a WRX could be taken ...

I have a standard Sti V and I will probably focus my attention on that!

I thought the difference is engine, g/box, brakes, suspension, bodykit, wheels and interior.

Put it this way, I drove a Forrester XT (2.5L Turbo) this weekend and it had noticably more oomph than my WRX wagon. If that was any indication, the STi (which is about 80lbs lighter than my wagon) must go like **** off a Teflon shovel!

Bonkers.
