Question *OFFICIAL* IM dont like imports!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well todays the day,,,

the eagerly awaited CM magazine arrived with the Subaru spares comparason
published....

well no huge surprises Genuine parts are overpriced....

what made interesting reading was the comments from IM

"quote"

an IM spokesman stated...

We have a firm company policy regarding imports and this wont be changing..

Because theres a lack of proper training, parts and tooling regarding these vehicles, we dont think it in our dealers interests to cater for them"

"unquote"

contrast the stance mentioned by Toyota in the same article..

*Quote*
Like Mitsubishi, IM took a hard stance on grey imports... however whilst Mitsubishi softened, happily catering for imports, and even selling them on its approved car forecourts with** the appropriate manufacturer's warrenty***
Subaru havent!!!!

"Unquote"

for the full article check this months CM magazine

As my comments have stated before, they use oem suppliers to supply parts to them, which they sell back to you with a very big mark up,,, you can source a lot of these components yourselves at a fractuion of the costs..

It clearly demonstrates that whilst the other motor oems have embraced grey imports, they dont like them, and in doing so are ailenating the people who ultimatly buy there cars...

Surely if there Technicians are that skilled, they should be able to work on other varients of the car with little concern, after all they make a bloody big song and dance when they do work for you and charge silly money...

Prehaps a few emails to fuji heavy industrys chairman might no go amiss

this is open to discussion people

No surprise there then

Our local Toyota,Mazda,Nissan and Mitsubishi dealers are quite happy to supply parts to the grey imports that we service(with the no return once ordered policy).
Shame IM don't follow suit as they are losing out.

If genuine parts are overpriced then what are we losing. Source the parts elsewhere, let them do what they want.

I phoned a subaru dealer the other day and the were very willing to supply parts to my JDM subaru. The only reason I didn't get them is they were over priced and the guy I talked to didn't know *anything* about the cars!!!

PS: i'm pretty ingnorant of this issue.
