Civic Type R vs Std UK WRX
Any one have any experience of this type of comparison.
Scooby will have advantage from stand still but what about on the move acceleration on a dry roads?

I pulled a significant lead on a wrx in my type R whilst on the motorway from 3rd gear onwards. The wrx couldnt touch me, then he disappeared outta sight. Have also had an 2 evo's and a few M3's. The hondas are not to be underestmated.

CTR as standard is 0-100 in 16.5 secs. Arent the new scoobys 15.5 sec 0-100's? With the added amount of torque at 100+ from the scooby aswell i find it hard to believe the CTR being able to pull a significant lead.
I presume your on about a standard bugeye or newage? Perhaps a doughnut was driving the scoob as the performance figures are far too close for one to pull a significant lead on the other.
''Then he dissapeared out of site''
Does this not tell you the scooby driver wasnt going for it. To leave a scooby out of site, you'd have to be driving something stupidly powerful and not a 197bhp hot hatch!

Id like to stick up for the newage crew here.....CTRs are fast cars but once moving in my experience, my WRX can slightyly pull away (0-60 is no contest if you get it right), i had a little play with a chap that has one, and you could hear that he was going for it, but there wasnt a chance in hell that he was pulling away. I was trying to keep up with him, and did it easily.
At the end of the day its far more down to driver ability than the car IMO. A correctly driven 1.6 Focus could keep up with most badly driven higher performance cars....

My last car was a CTR and it was a great car to drive. I was disappointed when I test drove a standard UK WRX (bugeye) - it didn't feel as quick and the body roll was too much - it didn't feel as well planted on the road as the CTR. I wouldn't have been happy to spend more money on a WRX than my CTR was worth. Look for a cheaper P1 or STI and then you'll see a big difference.

Evo got 18 secs for a 0-100 for an std MY01 IIRC.
If anyone can do a 15.5 0-100 in a MY03 I will buy them a mars bar.
Any way what are the 60-100 times for each car? I bet the type R has better fugures here!

personally i would say both cars are evenly matched on straights or around bends
Better forget about the fact that the focus rs managed 1:33.8
"First up is the Civic Type-R - Jeremy's current favourite hot hatch because of its rev-happy engine and razor sharp handling.
In the Stig's inhuman hands it managed a time of 1min 39.2sec.
With a sizable power advantage and four-wheel drive the Impreza should be quickest but, with a time of 1min 39.4sec, it proved the slowest on the day"

Davyboy, ill take that bet mate.....
My car is pretty much standard and it ran 13.9 at the pod @ 96.8Mph......so i figure that i could have pulled out the extra 3.2mph in the remaining 1.6 secs....
whadaya reckon?
Can i have a king size marsbar?
Neil.

not overly sure....it was my first go so i was more interested in not looking a prat!! i think about 4.5-5k though.
It has been widely noted though (from people that i have spoken to) that the 03MY cars seem have a notable performance superiority over the 01-02 Bugeye models though.
