Default Remap, knock link, piggy back ecu's??? do i really need it all??

When buying a fresh import, what should I do to prolong the life of my engine (using optimax)

-Remapping
-Piggy back ecu's
-Knock link
-Cam belt

Which of the above are essential and which are just to increase the power output?

also is it worth my while to Wax oil the underside, does it really make a difference?

Don't go for an import then if your that worried by one, go for a uk there are plenty of those around doing 280bhp+ mine included

remapping and piggy back ecu will give more power.
i would change the cam belt if your not sure when it was last changed, you dont want that to snap.
knocklink tells you if your engine has any problems.

You need a piggy back ecu in order to remap.
A remap is essential to run it on UK fuel.
This will in most cases increase power aswell.

If you dont want to remap then Optimax alone is not enough on its own,you need octane boost aswell.

A knock link is a must so you can monitor for det (the main cause of scooby engine failure).

Its a good idea to underseal or waxoyl the under chassis as they dont do this in Japan. They wont rust under your nose if you dont ,but it does provide a little more sound deadening and peace of mind.

A timing belt change goes without saying on any s/h car where there isnt a record of the last change.
once again peace of mind.

There is a few points that you need to be aware of with imports,so it would be a good idea to do your homework before buying a JDM car as oposed to a UK car.

JDM cars are much better equiped and more powerfull, but it does come with a price...

There is a group buy on KnockLinks with sensor in the Group Buy section.

Retail is £150 delivered - GB is £122 delivered. Think about it!
