Tek 3 UK Scooby v Standard Scooby
Question:
What sort of difference should there be performance wise (say 0-100mph) between two UK imprezas (one standard, one with simple mods)?
Both these cars were "tested" lets say (on private roads) as a comparison, in a straight line, both drivers taking cars close to rev lmiter in each gear.
One is totally standard (to the drivers knowledge, but no boost gauge to verify this) , other has full decat, TEK 3 remap with 1.3 Bar boost.
No known problems with either car (and remap was very recent, and carried out by very reputable mapper/company)
Standard car could not be overtaken.... is this expected... would it take a much higher power increase to expect to overtake over shortish run (approx 1/2 mile straight road). Expect decat/ECUTEK car to have around 270/280bhp, standard 215bhp. both cars run un optimax, decat/Ecutek car with addition of good dose of NF OB also.
Any comments (constructive or otherwise) welcome

Maybe my red one is faster than your green one??????
Oh! You forgot to mention the 'standard one' has got a K&N panel filter......them filters are GOOOOOD!! HE! HE!
I have to say that I was pleasantly, VERY surprised. 0-115 with nothing in it at all. So what's the deal people?.......Spend the best part of 2k on go-faster mods and be as fast as a.........erm...........one who still has 2k saved up for a NOZ with lots of top ups if needed.

Scoobyste: At least my Green one sounds fast with the bootiful de-cat. Think my gold alloys must be slowing it down - silver alloys are faster you know? Must be true everyone raves about them on here and hates the blingy gold ones......

I reckon you should both drive each car but not head to head and time the results for both of you. Perhaps it could be down to the driver?

I would have thought 65bhp & 40ish lbft of torque (the difference between a standard scoob and a decatted tek'd 3 scoob) would have been very noticeable

I have a full de cat HKS, K&N and 1.2 bar of boost using HKS EVC V all for 650 quid second hand. I think if you were going to run the laughing gas then it may get a little hot without a de cat and you wouldn't get the results expected.
You have to think about shifting as much gasses as possible on the way in as well as the way out as well as mapping fuel and ignition etc.

Ive only skipped throught the other posts; but is the standard car a UK or a JDM model? My WRX wagon will only make about 218 Bhp on Optimax and NF but it will show a clean pair of heels to most modified Scoobies, simply because the JDM cars have such manic gearing.....

Just a few things that might effect the figures.
I had a UK MY98 with full decat and boost controller running at around 250BHP 235lbf. I went against a standard P1 (276BHP 260lbf) at Santa Pod and ran 14.1sec which beat the P1 by 0.4sec, he never managed to beat my time over 4 runs.
The book on his P1 said a 13.5sec 1/4mile.
Therefore its all down to the driver !!!
Also try it over 3 runs and take it in turns in each others cars. Also you have to allow for heat soak in the intercooler. Get yourselves a cheap digital temp meter from Maplin or RS (£15) and measure the intercooler temps.
Just a few things that might effect the figures.
Cheers

Ill second that NM, i ran a 13.9 at the pod in my essentially standard UK WRX, and i didnt see that beaten many scoobs, modified or not...
Definitely down the driver
Neil.
(admittedly my car did almost put out 250bhp on the rollers the next week, not bad for a pretty standard car)
