wet (oil) rear diff...is this normal?

wet (oil) rear diff...is this normal?
I have been looking at a few WRX import scoobies and have noticed under the rear of the car, that the centre lump on the rear axle was wet (and i'm not talking a little wet patch) is this ok or should i expect a huge garage bill for that one?
