From: Ex WRX now a Harley Iron. Warwickshire. Oh what fun...
I need a additional door key for my 01WRX, the high street key cutters cant copy the code into their keys, so i have to go to the dealer.
I was wondering whats involved, as the handbook says existing keys will have their code erased, and re-coded along with the new key.
Does this mean i have to take the car along too, or can a mate of mine, take the keys, as he passes the dealers each day? And, if they need the car, do i have to book it in, or will they do it while i wait?
cheers in advance

You can get the key cut if you know how to reprogram your alarm for new fobs. It's detailed in your alarm instructions and is quite easy. I only got one key with mine, so I've taught my car one of my girlfriends Sigma remotes, just in case of battery problems. At some point I'll get another key and fob, but at £76 it can wait for now.
PS. If you've been given a better price, can you let me know how much and where from please?

From: Skoda Kamiq Monte Carlo 7 Speed DSG now bought and loving it!!!!!
Kev, I only got one key with MY98 Model, I bought my car from Listers in Worcester and they gave me a blank key, and when it went in for it's first service at my local dealer they cut it and programed it into the car, Listers did say the key alone was £100.
Cheers
