My sti 7 engine has seized so need a short engine, tried powerstation who were very helpful but none in stock until may, any ideas where else??? obviously id like a guarantee or warrenty but anything considered

Thats seems a lot considering powerstation do theirs for £800, why do you have one, and what guarantee is there that there isnt any problem with it. Dont mean to sound off but just being cautious about what im looking to buy, call me on 01792899005 if you wanna chat and negotiate abit

 

Could also try APIDavid (David O'Brien) on 01926 614522. Alternatively, it might be worth trying your local Subaru dealer. IIRC you can get a new STi Type UK short engine via the dealer chain for much more reasonable money than you'd think.

I believe (though get some confirmation before taking my word for it) that the UK STi short engine is a direct replacement for the JDM MY01 STi (assuming that's what you've got), so this could be a viable option.

 

I have one m8 because I bought a full AVCS equipped engine for a project motor but decided the project was going down another route, have tried to sell the full engine at £3k, no profit in it just what I paid, decided to break it to make it easier to sell, main componants are heads and short motor. Its a JDM spec one, but as far as short motor goes they are the same as Uk spec.

Yeah ive heard they should be the same, its just the price is above me at the moment, I need to get the car on the road but its just more than I can afford. il have to keep searching. If you have no luck and decide on a price drop give me a buzz. cheers

What's so different about a short engine and what benefits does it bring? Just interested as I've noticed a few threads i.e. group buys.

 

yes, check the group buy forum, may be worth sticking a 2.5 short engine in as you already have the 6sp transmission

I think Iain could be the best for you here as its going to be a brand new engine (pre T25 enhanced ) so id seriously look at this

It's not some sort of upgrade part, which seems to be what you're thinking. A "short engine" is merely the term used to describe the "middle bit" of a subaru engine: Block, crank, pistons, rods, rings, all ready for the heads and ancillaries to be bolted on.

So, in Welshboy's case, the benefit is that he can replace all his broken bits in a single package, and at a reasonable price.
