Angry Stolen - WR Blue STI MY03, Birmingham

It's a long shot but a friends 53 plate WR Blue STI was stolen from Birmingham Airport on Sunday afternoon. It's completely standard so no unique external identification.

A green Impreza was also stolen from the same place (I think at the same time) so I guess they were to order so chances of seeing them again are perhaps slim.

Not a nice thing to come back too from a holiday in Mexico.

Any information please email me or call

Thanks
Richard.

No, I do not think they are fitted as standard. I had to get one fitted to my 53 plate for the insurance.

This is correct, and ALL new STi's have the first year's subscription fully paid to RAC Trackstar by Subaru UK.

If the car was taken without the keys, the active Tracker would IMMEDIATELY alert RAC HQ and begin the "Tracking" process.

It wouldn't necessarily guarantee recovery, but it would at least flag up that the car had been nicked.

Something not quite right here

Any chance it could be a theft with true key, after a break in for example?

If it was put onto a trailer the motion sensor kicks in, which happened to me when my first STI was crashed then recovered. This causing RAC Trackstar to call me asking if I knew my cars location as the motion sensor had kicked in. I said " Yes, on the back of a trailer all smashed to bits."

Too late to help in this instance (sympathies to your mate, tho'), but when I leave my car at Heathrow or the likes I 'hard lock' it. All MY03/04 STi Type UKs have this - it's option 9 in the security system book. Basically it disables the key fob, so you have to manually unlock the car and enter your code to turn the alarm off and start it.

It won't stop them sticking it on a truck, but it will stop them if they break into your house while you're away and get the spare key.

if they took 10 then that sounds like a "nic to order" type gang. Surely out of the 10 peeps who had the car , at least one had a tracker system fitted?

If they really are taking that many and its the same group involved they are stupid as they are most likley to get caught.

I hope they do!
