Default WR1 Orders

Does anybody know why a copy of the driving licence had to be provided on ordering a WR1? The dealer where my WR1 is ordered did not ask for my driving licence when I first ordered, but I know that other people were asked to provide theirs.
The dealer rang me this afternoon requesting a copy, does this mean the first cars are imminent!!!

I was asked for driving license. Why not give a call back and ask why you have only just been asked for it. Could just be they messed up. Or (he says hopefully) maybe they realised they don't have your address and need to know so they can send you the stuff for the car.

Go on, give a call back so the rest of us can find out why

Apparently the dealer has been ringing every day to find an actual delivery date and today they asked for my driving license. He couldn't tell me any more than that I'm afraid.

As i understand it, you'll know its close when you're asked for a cover note...you should also get contacted dirtect by Subaru with a pack... until then unfortunately it's just one big wait.

I've just been asked to fax my driving licence. AFAIK, the purpose is that Subaru are trying to ensure that the car isn't bought by speculators. How a driving licence helps - I don't know.

First phase deliveries are begining April & should end by May.

driving licenses are asked for at time of order - cover notes when the keys are not far away!

Maybe be they want to put your licence number on the reg document?

Yes, they need to cover note to register the car so they can install the PPP.

By cover note you mean insurance wise or something else

If insurance how's that work then as I won't be changing until the car is on it's way as I need my insurance on my existing motor.

Yup, I know, I'm not sure what to do either. You will need insurance to get the car registered & without being registered, you can't get the PPP! I'm hoping that my insurance co is understanding.

You don't need an insurance cover note to register a car, a cover note is needed to tax it.

I agree with ice man, you will only be asked to produce a cover note when your wr1 has arrived at the dealer and they will tax and pdi the car for you to pick up several days later

I was under the impression it was needed due to the new vehicle license/reg rules that came in Jan 1st. See http://www.dvla.gov.uk/newrules/reg_vehicles.htm. Red Tape!
Although not been asked for any paper bills etc as on dvla site yet.

Its to prove that the dealer has a genuine buyer against their order placed with IM. This is to stop dealers buying as many Wr1's as possible.

Sammy, but the dealers get 3 each. How can they buy as many as possible? Some dealers I spoke to on Monday have taken orders for over their allocation & then have an order waiting list of another 8 or 10. One had 20!

Its to stop them buying one without a customer order and putting it into stock, so the car could be avaliable to another dealer who has a deffinate order.

Ok Sammy

But every dealer I've spoken to, also IM, have told me that each dealer gets 3x WR1s from the first phase. One dealer I know of, is using one of their 3 WR1s as a demo.

I just can't understand why IM don't give dealers an actually date when they are getting the 1st, 2nd and 3rd cars, Is it so difficult?? If I my company was run to run business like this we wouldn't have any customers.

I agree Ice ManIM must know how long it takes to prep the cars, because they must have factored that in to their costings. However, IM were like this back in '98 when I bought my first Scoob. We just put up with it because they sell great cars.
