Shell Garage in Keswick
Hi guys
Me and my better half are off to Keswick for a few days so I was wondering if there is a shell garage anywhere near that sells the good stuff (optimax).
If not, is there any other garage close buy that sells decent SUL.
Cheers
James

I don't think there is mate no, I think the nearest 2 are both in Cockermouth - about 13 miles away.
Fear not though - the A66 (west bound) that links the 2 towns has the greatest bit of dual carriageway you'll find

One of the Shell garages in Bowness (south lakes) did SUL and then Optimax last time I was up there.
It's quite a small garage wedged in between some shops on (or near) the one way system.
HTH,
Chris.

The shell garage in windermere isn't a shell garage anymore, but a gulf one. I was there a couple of weeks ago trying to find a shell station, a local hotel told me that the gulf one sells optimax as it is owned by shell, also says on the forecourt that it's optimax, so filled mine up.
Then on way home after getting de-cat d/pipe fitted started to get "knock" never had this before. filled up again with optimax proper stuff, and no more red light to date. So not to sure if it is the "good stuff" hope this helps.

Two in Cockermouth. As Messiah says the west bound carriage way on the A66 between Keswick and Cockermouth is one of the best driving roads in the country. Period. I guarentee you will turn around and go back for another go
There's also one at Penrith near to junction 40 if you are coming to the lakes by motorway.

James,
Nice to see you giving your new motor a 'run out'.
If you want a good run out, try going 'cross country' from Barnard Castle to Brough (Get the map out).
I have some Octane Booster if you need some for an emergency incase you can't find any optimax.

In the Lakes myself at the weekend. I can recomend the Shell garage in Ulverston, if you're going that far south. The Stan Laurel museum is worth a visit as is The Hot Mango cafe, and the Cumbria crystal factory shop opposite Budgens. Careful on the A590 though too many police patrols for my liking.
