Breakers and Scrappys
whats the genral feelings about these places?
i belive sum of them are off the plannet when it comes to priceing up parts
example:
my coilovers are knackerd and i need sum standerd suspension, i figured that as i had no standerd parts i would get a set from a breaker car and replace the parts that wore out in due time (lets be honest there only going to last all of 3 months tops anyways) i planned to buy a set of lowering springs in the next few weeks so the springs wernt even that important
tried a few local places, nobody has them
tried a massive place near newcastle and the bloke fobbed me off for nearly an entire day "ring me back in 1 hour im busy"
i wanted to confirm they had them in stock and weather or not i was to remove them myself from the car, it took from about 10 in the morning till 2.30 in the afternoon to get a price from them
"yeah we have loads in stock mate £75 a corner"
£75 for second hand scrapyard parts
i mean come on
i actualy hung up!!
another place wanted £60 per corner
so were talking £300 for the full set from one place, for fooken second hand parts that will last all of 5 mins
ive orderd sum brand new shocks @ £46 per corner and sourced sum top mounts, a mate is lending me sum standerd springs until i buy the lowering ones
what are these breakers yards on (and can i have sum please )
any "he`s a scooby driver, we can rape his pockets of cash" gen??

its scarey, there must be sum real muppets out there who will pay that, in order for the yards to continue priceing the items so high
from the same yard i bought a full mk2 vectra rear bumper for £80 when they were really new, which i consider very reasonable
might ring them up and ask for the price of a set of vectra struts

Tell me about it!!
I phoned one place up and told him i had an Impreza GL (but have a wrx import) and needed two front door window strips that run along and under the wing mirror.
Subaru price new £50 each
Scrap yard ape used £10 each
Good price but took two days longer to turn up and when i chased it he said its nothing to do with him!
Also p+p was £12.50!!!!!
Moral of story
If they are universal parts (ie GL GLX WRX STI) tell them you have a GL and the price will be cheaper. They all think we are loaded if you tell them you have a turbo so you wil pay for it. Just remind them how much it costs to run one of these beasts!!
Sorry it was a bit long winded!
