Default What do you think this is?

I know this is a little sketchy but my younger brother has just put a deposit down on a my95 (N) Impreza Turbo. It has an induction kit, an uprated exhaust (don't know type) and is chipped. It's pulling approximately 295 BHP.

Is it likely to be an STI or just a WRX?

Right this is the car, it's the bottom one.

He's gotten it for £5700. Does it look like a good buy?

I could do with some help on this as my brother is about to buy this and as I don't know much about older Imprezas I can't give him advice on whether or not he's getting a good deal!

it looks very nice, plus he getting it from a garage, so he should have some comeback if anything goes wrong, id say that was a fair price for a car like that.

Exclamation

It's impossible to be absolutely certain whether it's a UK or Japanese model just by looking at the picture. As has been said, lack of headlamp washers tends to indicate WRX, but OTOH, if it's a WRX, why isn't it sold as such?

You shouldn't really be asking us, as we don't really know any more than you. Your brother should be getting the full SP from the selling dealer before parting with any cash. Either way, I'd suggest that £5K7 is a bit OTT for a car of that age, especially when you/he aren't certain what it is.

Might be better to do some of the checking before buying the car Tony.

If you can get the engine model code from under the bonnet, goto this website and it should tell you what model he should be buying for eg. STI, standard wrx and so on...
