Now i appreciate that this doesnt take a lot but i shall explain anyway!!
I called a certain un-named company today about fitting an up and down pipe to my 03 wrx. I was advised that this was very VERY unadvisable without a remap. It was my understanding that a remap was a good idea but it would not kill the car to decat it and get the CEL fix to sort out the error code in the ECU?
So i am confused. Can i safely source the decat parts and install them without fear of destroying the car.....or should i listen to the company and wait until i can afford a remap aswell? thus having a bigger jump in power?
Any and all opinions welcome!!!!!
Neil.

Not sure of the effect of fitting the up and down pipes without the remap.
I would be tempted to wait till you can afford the re-map. It's well worth it, completely transforms the car. I had a full de-cat and Ecutek re-map at the same time and the car is amazing. Wish I'd got it done sooner

Mines a MY01 WRX. I've had it since new. I only had the exhaust/re-map done about 6 weeks ago. I was on the rr day the other sunday and I got 270bhp with 263ft/lb. Really good shaped power curve too, reaches almost full power at 5500rpm then creeps up to full at 6700ish. But its also the way it now drives. No more hesitation low down, its so much more drivable. Before it was pretty much useless below 2000rpm now it pulls cleanly from 1500. Unfortunatly my fuel consumption is suffering a touch at the moment, although I expect this to ease up once I stop enjoying the new power/torque/noise so much hehe
