I have located a rattle that happens when in first and going from a stand still, gently through first, as the turbo heat shield thing that leads upto the bonnet scoop.
Can i remove it or does it need to be there?

All heat shields are there for a purpose, especially with a turbo. Better to find a way of tightening it up than to remove it.
