Unhappy Central Locking Problem

My central locking has been playing up recently, when you arm the alarm I was getting a very loud grinding noise. I thought it was the central locking solenoid so took it to bits to have a look see and managed to damage the plastic casing that holds the solenoid! Dont know if the solendoid is bust or not anyone any bright ideas before paying subaru £70 (: for a new solenoid that comes with the plastic casing? Have to do something soon as I have no central locking which is a real pain.
