The Spec C is the lightweight version of the GL (JDM STi), it has some improvements like an engine oil cooler and slightly lengthened wheel base (15mm) and comes with a quickrack, A-DCCD and a roof vent (oh and a 12ltr water tank in the boot for the intercooler), apart from that, thats about all you get, no radio as standard, no central locking, no electric windows, its very raw, there is no sound proofing, its definately not for everyone, apart from that its a pretty good car
Tony (Spec C owner )
PS i should have stated that it is the new shape impreza, MY01 onwards (03 onwards have the twin scroll turbo though )

The real reason why the Spec C's are made is that they're the homologation special the Group N rallycars are based on.
This is the reason why there's things like the altered front suspension geometry, bigger intercooler waterspray tank, power steering oil cooler (Tony! ), hardly any "creature comforts", and also why there's a version available with a crap interior, 16" steel wheels and smaller brakes.
The twin scroll turbo on the MY03+ Japanese market cars goes hand in hand with equal length 4:2 exhaust manifolds. It's a good development because it increases the efficiency of the turbo, allowing greater power and increased fuel economy.

No carpet in the boot, equal length headers meaning no scooby warble, screams to 8000 rpm and sounds like a big jap bike (with milltek exhaust).....oh and from the inside loads of tiney vibrations noises. I would still have one though

No, it sounds a lot more like the WRC cars, or, as Gary says, a quick motorbike. Less annoying drone in the cabin on the motorway too.
