Default has anyone actually driven a WR1?

why are there no reviews in car mags? are they trying to get the first lot out before people realise that they are not all that?

Not wanting to get into a slanging match, each to their own and all. But...What makes you think they "are not all that"? Have you driven one then?

Genuine question from someone who has one on order and hasn't even seen one in the flesh yet, let alone driven it.

Mind you, I bought my existing Scooby without seeing it or test driving one and it still makes me smile over six years later

not wanting to get into a slagging match at all - i also have one on order - people are talking about the first ones being about to be delivered - and I've not read a single sentence from anyone who has actually driven one. strange. I certainly hope they are "all that" since I'm switching from a perfectly lovely low mileage STi PPP

It's a very fair question, Paul. Perhaps someone from IM or Prodrive could tell us on Monday why there apparently haven't been any submitted to the Press??

Phil

Betcha there's a write up in this week's Autocar just to make us look stupid

i have driven a sti8 with allegedly the wr1 map on (according to the dealer) and it feels more responsive and faster than the sti8 and i could see no stuttering on rapid acceleration unlike some other sti demonstraors i drove,it was of course without dccd so only half of what a wr1 will be but not too bad though

Hasn't Mike Wood refuted the dealers claimed WR1 map??

Londonpaul: why switch from a new STI PPP at all? You've got to be losing a pile of cash trading up so soon. Is a pale blue paint job and DCCD worth that much to you?

Not having a go, just curious. I still have my four year old classic UK car with PPP because I simply don't think that any of the new cars are that much better that it's worth the expense.

What is it that makes the WR1 worthwhile to you?

I assume that the problem has been that there hasn't been a genuine WR1 available yet. No-one seems to know for sure exactly when Prodrive will be completing the first batch of cars.

I've heard rumours on this board that some dealers have already had the first cars yet when I asked my dealer the other week they rang me back a few minutes later to say that none of the cars had been finished yet. Could have been leading me on but why bother, I am not first on their list.

Like you I am waiting to see what the press have to say. Won't stop me buying the thing, just interested to hear their views.

Anyone reading this who knows for certain that a particular dealer has already got a WR1 please post details of who they are. Would love to go take a look. Thanks.

P1doc, i drove the Sti with a PPP and it was exellent but not as good as my Type R vs5

the WR-1 is a limited edition and a exclusive colour, this is why i ordered a WR-1

1 year old Sti8. I was going to trade up because I can! and because initially my dealer told me it was going to be basically a tricked up spec C with twin scroll turbos etc. etc. When i actually saw the spec I wondered if it was actually worth it and thought about pulling my order (refundable deposit) but thought hey, I'll wait and see what the press / you lot say...

still waiting thats all

Twin scroll turbos (plural)?

You mean the salesman told you it was twin-turbo?!
