The Idiots That Run The Country
I have just read, with total disgust I might add, that our friends in government are planning to introduce a sliding road tax charge based upon a cars CO2 emissions and I quote:
"The £1000 tax charge would apply to a range of models with high co2 emissions these include Ford Mondeo 2L-1.8 L Vectra-1.8L Rover 75"
They are having a laugh, what will it cost a scooby owner.
Alistair Darling should be tried by a motoring jury.
Off with his bo**ocks I say.
At this rate it will soon be civil war.

Yea I just read that too!!!!!!!
I couldn't believe it, maby they should make it a criminal offence to own a car, unless your part of the rulling elite. I think the punishment should be a life time of slavery, that will teach them.
Oh well they have a majority in the House of Commons.

running a car is already one of the most expensive things in our lives - about £5k a year apparantly.
Its getting to breaking point, and petrol nearly went the way of the poll tax a couple of years back.
If they do this, and it affects Joe Normal (i.e 1.8 Vectra drivers), then the Government will have public demonstrations all over the country. I don't see this working - they are just leaking the info to see what hte reaction is.

Voice your opposition at the ballot box. The alternatives might not be very good, but it's time for a change. Let's face it, both party's are so similar now, with Labour being slightly more to the right . It doesn't matter who you vote for, the government always wins anyway. There are 30 million cars on the road, each with a driver, and almost all eligible to vote. Use your vote wisely.

Corrado, I completey agree. I read somewhere they have created 600,000 jobs paid for by the tax payer since coming into power - and we are paying for it by every single means possible. The list is endless, fines for late road tax, massive tax on fuel, potential higher tax for performance cars, etc etc. And thats just motoring - council taxes and all the other housing related ones are soaring. ****s me off
And the worst thing is we all accept it, begrudgingly. It amazes me how much they seem to get away with, with little or no resistance. We seem to have no limit to how much they can bleed out of us. Ok, we grumble and moan, but it just seems to be something new every week.
Agreed the alternative competition isn't that great, but surely a change is needed or we'll all end up in some communist regime, all driving Lada's!

This is the biggest load of b*****ks i have ever heard (next to the statement: all speed camera's are placed at accident prone areas)
how do they expect the public to find that sort of money for their cars annualy on tax?
Its still ok for them to drive around in their 3.2 or 4.5L jags
guess we'll all have to get about 30 cat converters fitted to our exhausts so that we can comply with the new legal CO2 emmisions, 0.00002
as some1 above stated, we all moan but take it on the chin and carry on, its about time, as motorists, we all stood up and said "STOP TAKING THE FU**ING P1$$"
at the end of the day you all have yourselves to blame , those that voted FOR them, for letting labour in in the 1st place,so next election, get them out!!!

Too right rb5
Just another ploy for the Labour w@nkers to take money out of the pocket of the average working class joe's pocket, what's happened to their working class values. The rich get richer and the poor get more firking benefits than some people can earn!
I heard that Conservative were planning to abolish points for camera speeeding offences - just fine people and points for persistent offenders. The car is most peoples freedom and pride and joy and the government are just taking advantage of this - spin doctor tw@t president Blair.
What with fuel costs, inflated purchase prises for cars and now the cost of houses I am totally fooked off with this country and the to sser politicians that are just crippling the average man. I would emigrate if I could and pay my taxes elsewhere.
Voting Tory this time for definate
Well pissed off barneyrubble

IMHO it's about time we had a "None of the above" option on ballot papers.
I'm ashamed to say I haven't vote in the last two elections (mainly as I don't want to vote for any of them). I would expect voter turnout to be much higher if we were allowed to register a real protest vote.

I totally agree......
Now lets see what the spongers in the Treasury fleece the motorist for....
1. One of the highest fuel taxes on the planet
2. 28 mega zillion £s a year from revenue cameras
3. Fines from driving @ 85mph along a deserted motorway
4. Fines for car modifications that dont conform, collected by the boys in blue
5.Tolls for driving along roads (Dartford crossing, M62 + further proposals
6. Late payment of road tax
7. Insurance premium tax on your motor insurance
8. New car tax (as well as vat) on, err, your new car
9. Parking fines
10. The increasing costs of MoTs
11. And now this ridiculous increase in car tax........
These, with all the other taxes that they get from your income, property etc etc just makes me wonder why I live in the UK, & think about emergrating somewhere else.....
Rant mode off....

Seriously though, the reason they always get away with the tax hikes is 'cos they offer 1% off income tax or NI at the same time to "balance" the increases. Everyone goes oooh great I'll have 1% more cash at the end of every month and dont notice that the other increases amount to 5% more monthly costs.

I wouldn't mind paying a 1000 + as long as our roads r pot hole free and in perfect condition
But these roads would only be used by 1800+ cars and not all the bloody 1 ltr paying less than 100 a year they can have all the sh1te that we have now.
any who any 1 selling a 1.1 feista or straight swop for me scoob (LOL)
