Default Gearbox speed sensor

Im going to fit a kmh to mph convertor on my sti 7 jap import tomorrow. From the instruction it seems that I need to solder 4 wires in place from the gearbox speed sensor. Anyone got any tips how this is most easily achieved. Where exactly is this sensor. Is it tight behind the dash? Any advice gratefully accepted. Thanks

My mate had one go and from his decription it's fitted to the top of the gearbox. You can just about get to it to fiddle down the back of the engine compartment.

I would be surprised if you could get enough access to solder though, probably have to unplug the connector, pull it back and solder to that or remove the sensor and solder off the car.
