Annoying rattling sound......HELP!!!!!!!!
I have recently fitted a blitz nurspec r exhaust and magnex downpipe. While driving, I can hear an annoying vibrating sound coming from the downpipe/engine. I have removed the heat shield.
I have taken it back to the garage that fitted it and was suggested that it was the atuater release valve on the waste gate. Not to sure to believe him though. Has anyone else had problems fitting a new exhaust???

IS it all the timer, or only at certain revs, the waste get is apparently sent lots of signals to open, and so can sound like a rattle, it worried the hell out of me until I found out what it was!!

Mainly on the lower revs when slowing down through the gears. If I knock it in to neutral when slowing down, the sound dissapears. Seems to be above 2000 revs. As if the pipe is vibrating of something, can't see what though. Could be the waste gate. annoying the F**K out of me though..........

It shouldn't be the wastegate if it's when slowing down, as the wastegate would be well and truly shut anyway, so maybe there's something rattling that got disturbed during the fitting, a heatshield maybe??

Could well be the heatshields on the up-pipe. These are normally bolted to the heatshields on the downpipe. Once that's gone there's nothing holding them in place other than a few spot welds. These often fail.
Follow the steering shaft down past the turbo (tight squeeze - do when the car is cold!) and you'll come across one of the mounting flanges of the heatshield. Give a wiggle. Chances are it's loose and is vibrating against the steering. You need to get under the car to actually remove the buggers but in the meantime try wirelocking the heatshield to something solid!
Hope this helps
