Subaru Slams Misleading Warranty Report

That would be 30% of those that claim, so if 25% claimed, then that would be roughly 8% of the actual total.
& with an average age of 4 years that makes MY99/00 the average & seeing as how weak the MAF is, then that'd be why there's a few engine probs, + the piston slappers.

I got the same letter a few days ago. I agree, engine repairs of less than 30% of all repairs does sound like a lot. I had an MY97 UK Turbo and that had a short engine change due to piston slap but I.M. payed for all the repair costs.
Hey ajm, I live very close to you. You don't happen to own a UK300 by any chance?

easy user friendly solution.....
why dont they give four years warrenty, or even 40 months, and out do other manufacturers , also keeps the punters happy and maybe even increase sales..
Just a thought

We should all sigh with relief, it is now clear-
a Subarus are now officially really easy and cheap to fix.
b They are all very reliable and there is no such things as piston slap, dodgy maf sensors or a tendancy to eat no3 main bearings
c After market warranty companies are eager to pay out when you have problems and are on very good terms with Subaru UK.
Or maybe not............

Or stating it another way, >70% of repairs are not engine related. Does this sound as bad ?
It's not saying that nearly 30% of all Scoobs have engnie problems, it is the % of those that need repairs. As most of the complexity lies with the engine, is this really a surprise ?

What the Warranty Holdings announcement doesn't show, is that the £1600ish average repair payout is for a bill of £5k that they refuse in full, 'cos no doubt the engines were "run low on oil at some time in their life"
