AFAIK It's a 'no purchase necessary' promotion. Otherwise, ie if you had to buy the cards, it would be classed as gambling. I'm not a lawyer and would like some clarification on this myself from someone who's in the know, but as far as I can see, you are perfectly within your rights to walk into the petrol station and demand a pack for nothing. I fill my van up daily with shell deisel, and most folks behind the counter will hand over a pack if asked, but some (Lock Lane Castleford, are you listening? Miserable tw@s) refuse point blank, saying that they have to log each sale, blah, blah.
Sounds like bollox to me, and is probably illegal to refuse.
Any legal bods out there?
I know they're only top trumps, but it's the principal of the thing
Sticky (23 cards, one to go)

Obviously, like anything, they will hold back one card then release it right at the end..... Still worth a try, some lucky begger will presumably win.

Maserati GT Coupe is the rare 'key' card ... I just got a complete second set (bar the GT) within 2hrs so it goes to show the rest aren't hard to find
As to people asking about minimum purchases, demanding packs for diesel etc. ... if you bother to read the promotional leaflet it clearly states the following:
All you have to do is drive round filling up with the minimum of Optimax your local Shell station allows (usually 2 litres ~£1.65) and you can get a pack of cards. I am fortunate in that I have 7 Shell stations within a 10 mile radius of where I live. This is how I managed to collect the entire set (bar the GT) within 2 hours. Worryingly some of the attendents are starting to recognise me now and ask how I'm doing
Finally on this merry rant: anyone offering a GT card for sale etc. is either a liar or a fool (you can pick which) ... if they truly have the card then it is a simple matter to collect the remaining ones and claim a 100k car which they could then drive or sell and reap the cash reward.
Remember: If it seems too good to be true then it probably is.
On a final note: good luck guys, I wish you the best of luck finding those elusive Maserati GT's!!

Customers will receive one pack of 6 free cards with every purchase of Shell Optimax fuel from participating Shell Service Stations during the promotional period.

And if some of you bothered to further read the promotional leaflet, you'll have noticed that you don't even have to purchase Optimax but can simply write to the address provided and get Shell to send you some cards.

As to getting multiple packs per visit ... how much flirting was required with the attendent to secure the extra packs?? I'm not that committed ... yet

Mikk. First off, at just over a year old with 38k on the clock I tend to look for excuses not to drive the Scoob. Secondly, flirting with some hairy arsed Indian bloke for a pack of cards is beyond my commitment levels for Top Trumps.
Optimax is good, but it's not that good.

Personally I agree about Optimax not being that good ... but who'd say no to a 100k car?? Damn those marketing analysts
