Thumbs up 30mpg from a MY03 WRX!!!

I was driving from Uxbridge to Manchester and back today so I switched the scoob to the 'economy' map (Ecutek switchable remap from PE). **** me! I got over 300 miles before I stopped to fill up and then I had over 12 litres left in the tank. That's more than 30mpg in real money at 80-90mph most of the way and touching the ton on a few occasions.

Kudos to the guys at Power Engineering.

...and for the weekend I think I'll switch back to the 'turbo nutter ba$tard' map.

And what happens to your warranty when it all goes bang?

The low boost map puts less stress on the engine than the standard WRX map and the high boost map is very similar to the PPP remap, which is well within what the standard engine internals are capable of. So, I'm not at all worried about the engine going bang.

IMHO, until you're at 90mph+, I doubt there is a lot of difference between the two maps as the turbo won't be boosting hard on the cruise. I just got 325 miles on less than 50 litres with a non switchable PE ecutek at fairly normal motorway speeds in an 02WRX, running an exhaust and single map that gives >280bhp at PE. Of course, with any map, boot it over a backroad or similar, and the economy does drop off a fair bit.

Yorkie - I think you're probably on the wrong board if you have a great aversion to modifications. Of course, if you can back it up, I'd be interested to see all these examples of properly set-up ecuteks with minor supporting mods going bang.

get 26-28 most of the time on "company driving" type runs most of the time with my WRX 03 PPP - warranty intact.

Mind you that MPG suffers a bit @ the weekend!

Thumbs up

Did a couple of motorway runs this week in the STi and managed to get 21.7mpg average for the week compared to 19.6 last week - am now on a mission to see if I can get to 25mpg

Mmm.... Food for thought this. I usually get about 250 miles from 50 or so litres in my standard 02 WRX wagon. So, if I can use this as an angle to persuade Kath that it's an economy mod, I might be getting somewhere.....

The best result is riding with a naked foot, and put some pins on your loud-pedal... LOL

I get +330 miles from my classic Ecutekked car...

I constantly use to get over 30mpg on long runs with my old MY00 PPP'd scoob
I now get 25-26mpg in my jap mapped ecu Spec C (ie the standard map)
