its a wind up!!!
as i am new to scooby ownership i have been ,trying 2 find out as much as possible about the car, some one told me the other day that if you fit new tyres you must change a pair other wise the transfer box will wind up and eventually blow!! is this true? could be expensive if you have a damaged tyre that needs changing .

Changing 4 at once is recommended, and people rotate tyres at regular intervals to spread the wear front/rear so that they all wear out together.
Personally I would never change less than a pair, and I have even refused to buy a car that was at a good price and looked in good condition but had 4 different makes of tyre on it. A car that has 4 tyres the same is generally a car that has been maintained regardless of cost by an enthusiastic owner.
I'm sure changing 1 for the same make if it's damaged is ok, but I remember reading a thread where (I think) a Lotus owner changed all 4, but one (the same make/model) was made in a different factory and had a different characteristic and adversely affected the handling. Doesn't matter how good the car is at handling, it's the tyres that touch the tarmac and they obviously play a big role
