Default Car horn volume, legal limit?

Does anyone now if there is a legal limit of the volume of a car horn?

I seriously need something which will make the stupid kids get out the way, short of running them over that is :/

Either that or shooting them with machine guns mounted behind my number plate... but I don't want to have to colour code them, spraying will be the death of me.

There was a bloke on eBay selling the horn from an Intercity 125 train last year, i was toying with the idea of getting it for my Land Rover. I think it kicked out something like 156dB!

But you needed a huge air compressor to run it, and it was about the size of a medium sized TV.

Thats what you need!

Can you imagine a copper checking the loudness of your horn......... "im sorry sir - but your horn is too loud to warn other road users of your presence"

Just make it as loud as you can...

Just getting rid of the standard Subaru buzzers and fitting some proper (air or diaphragm) horns should accomplish that. You don't need to go OTT unless you want to sound like a boy racer or a Dukes of Hazzard fan.

AIR HORNS

Scroll down past Dukes of Hazard $hite till you get to this :-

The Nautilus TWIN TONE Air horns features compact space saving engineering that no other twin tone air horn in the world can offer. It's very fast and easy to install because it requires only ONE fixing point and a single electrical connection. No air tubes are required.

The excellent sound output of approx 139 decibels ! Is INSTANT thanks to a perfectly balanced air jet system.

Furthermore the Nautilus IS 100% Road Legal.

Might try one myself. One fixing point & one wire.Sorted.
