Alarm problems after holidays
Hey guys,
Battery went flat after 4 weeks hols in Australia. I recharged it fully. If i leave the car for a few days without turning the ignition over, the alarm goes off for a split second AS I TURN THE CAR OVER to start it. Just a very short siren noise - like i've set it off - then it stops immediately once the car starts.
Any ideas why its doing this and any alarm (std Sigma you get on MY01 WRX's) guru's tell me what to do to stop it happening?

Seems to me that the battery voltage is dropping too much when you crank over the engine, and the alarm is getting it knickers in a twist.
So I would reccomend you go to a grage and get your battery load tested just to make sure.
I never know why this is, but in instances with a half dead battery the first component on a car that always plays up first is either the alarm/immobilser. I always put it down to them being made by a 3rd party and not using any decent internal voltage regulation circuitry - thus making them susceptible to a poor vehicle battery.

You can eek more out the old girl yet. Mines started doing that last winter but come the summer it was fine and she started doing it again this winter. Not a problem when I was driving the car every day but now I have the pug I've been leaving it for days at a time. Had to jump it yestarday and then again this morning You should wait till the battery gets really low, the alarm gives of the most pathetic attempt at a squeal ever and the doors make some really funny locking noises

Holiday, batteries and alarms
Funny that, i was away in Oz for 5 weeks, my mate who was babysitting the scoob had exactly the same problem, when i got back the battery had to be replaced..as sometimes the car would turn over and start, othertimes the immobilizer would just keep the engine locked down (a few bleeps then nothing)..after the battery was changed, no more problems.
Perhaps you should change your holiday venue
Cheers
