Angry How to fine out when my import was made/registered in japan

Just got my V5 and reg for my MY03 JDM STI GL through

When I bought it in jan 2004 it had 800 miles on it and I was told it was imported new in december 03

The DVLA have given me a 52 reg and it says on the v5 date of first registration 01 01 2004 and declared manufactured 2003

Is this a case of dvla taking worst possilbe cash ie jan 03 (giving me a 52 plate) when it is most likely should be a 53 plate

I will be putting my private reg on it but that is not the point.

Tal

Have a look at the white tag on the end of the seat-belts, near the mounting point.

The belts often have a manufactured date printed on them - and the car cannot have been made before the belts were. Typically the date of manuf of the car is circa a month or two after the belts...

A good indication if nothing else - and may help sway the DVLA if in any doubt.

My MY00 had a blue plaque on the passenger side door sill (between the passenger door closing and the rear passenger door opening area) it said "Build date May 2000.
