High Mileage - What have you got?
OK.
I used to drive TOYOTA and swore by the high mileage with no problems. Now I own a Scoob, I would like to know how bombproof they are.
What are the mileages of any of your Impreza's and what major issues have you had?
I don't want to know how long they last, how far they go to be faced with the how long is a piece of string answer.
Check out the American site (with some dodgy cars, people and photos?!?) for some idea of how long Subarus will go - they are not all live fast die young!

I have an MY95 and it's currently on 175,000 miles and still running like a dream (even after being chipped to approx 280BHP+ by David Wallis last year)
I've only ever had 3 problems:
1) 5th gear started whining, as this car used to be a company car for 140k then I sort of expected 5th gear to go at some point. Cost £800 including labour to fit a reconditioned box, that was over 2 years ago and it's been fine since
2) I had smoke coming out of the bonnet scoop and Mainland in Widnes replaced both rocker gasket covers and a crank seal. Cost £250
3) I had a rattly manifold and although it wasn't causing any problems it was doing my nut in so I replaced the full thing. Cost £250 for the parts from Grade-A and £100 to fit at Mainland
The other 5 grand or so I've spent have all been on goodies
Photos of my old lady can be seen here

p.s Will be up for sale in the next couple of weeks so any interested parties e-mail me

I've had my JDM Forester S/tb from new, and its covered 135,000 miles without problems.
Previously I had a UK Legacy Turbo Estate for 6 years which had covered 200,000 miles when she was traded in for the S/tb. From memory, the only non-routine mechanical bits that were ever replaced were the rear shocks.
It would take alot for me to switch marques now (and this from someone who would never buy a Japanese car)... although I am quite tempted by the new X Type Estate!
