The Subaru Impreza is the one of the most outstanding performance cars on the road today.

I love that 'Flat-4' rumble, the superior tracion on all road surfaces and being a PERFORMANCE ICON OF THE DECADE!

Subaru have, and always will, question accepted automobile design in the pursuit of excellence.

there was 2 things that influenced me to buy an impreza 1st was a turbo 2nd was 4X4 once you got both of those you on the way to a great car

Initially inspired by the WRC scene and a general love of performance cars to try one out at Rallydrive. I knew within 100yds that I had to have one. Took me about 6 years what with buying houses, changing jobs etc but I now have an MY03 WRX PPP and I love it. If I'm brutally honest, I have always said they're ugly, but that doesn't matter when your in the driving seat

Love the rumble, love the handling, love the grip, love the performance, learnt to love the looks (like an ugly bird who's an unbelievable lay )

The unmistakeable flat 4 rumble, had me sold from the first time I heard it.
I knew I had to have one. took me 4 years to do it though.
The lines of the classic are still sexy, even if slightly dated now, even in standard trim a turbo version is a head turner amongst mundane motorway traffic.
bought a bugeye first, but not regretted trading it for a classic one tiny bit.

ALL OF THEM EVERY ONE EVERY TIME I DRIVE IT! Wanted one for years nd there is no other.

Every time I drive it down the road, even in rubbish traffic it still sounds and feels great. It is like a raging bull waiting to be unleashed!!

Mmmmmmmmmmm - any excuse to drive it - shops, garage, heat it up before washing it, etc. I am sure I am not the only one. The sound gets me every time - the sound of potential.

I never really liked Scoobs. Japanese cars just didn't do it for me. Then I was looking for something to replace my old BM 325 with. I was considering an E36 M3, but a friend all but dragged me to the Scooby dealership. Took a MY00 for a test drive. That was it - I was hooked. The noise, the performance - it made the 325 feel slow and heavy and was amazing fun to throw around with that lovely mechanical soundtrack. Also the BM ate cash at an amazing rate, but I've now had the same MY00 Scoob for 3 years now, with nothing having failed (touch wood) and only normal servicing - so the reliability is nice too.

Because it has 4doors and a large boot for the shopping well that's the criteria my missus set when my old Orion end was near

so i looked around for the Fastest, with all of the above, I could afford hence my first Scooby, MY99UK

My wife did comment "what's that thing on the bonnet" (the scoop) LOL I was going to explain but she doesn't drive, can't use a Video recorder and Blonde, so no Piont

Had three cars on a shortlist (Scoob, Alfa 156, Honda Accord Type R) Test drove a Scooby and the first twisty bit on test run had me grinning so much I knew it was the one I was going to buy. Never did get to test the Honda...

Was selling my 2.8 Quattro Audi A4, wanted something 4wd with 200bhp+ ....AUDI, BMW etc £30K+ Subaru £19k, thats a lot of optimax. and the reality is the servicing etc is not much more expensive the anything else (last one on the Audi 80k cost £800)

expensive to run - in what respect? Bit heavy on the fuel if your right foot happy
expensive to service - cheaper than a Pug 206 GTi
expensive to insure - cheaper than a Pug 206 GTi
expensive to tax - same as a Pug 206 GTi

Performance compared to a 206 GTi?? handling??? Room for the dog in a MY00 wagon??

I guess my reasons for choosing it were maily from driving a landrover discovery for 5 years and waving at it as it left on the back of a recovery truck every few months, the scooby always gave me a hard on when i saw one on tv rallying or even driving round town, the shape the noise the whole package, sold the disco and took a test drive, history was made

reasons for and against

landrover - practical, unreliable, boring, heavy, slow but great to park anywhere and not worry.

scooby - expensive to insure, petrol, tyres, servicing but get in another "normal car" and you couldn't live long without the scoob, thats how i feel after having mine for a year.

Had various performance Vauxhall's but the chasis dynamics were very poor, and also carried an image of rep mobile, always been interested in rallying, so in 1998 went for a test drive in a classic turbo , loved the drive , loved the sound, loved the look and it gave me a stonking great (erection) desire to drive the longest way frrom A-B, now driving a MY03 wrx but just ordered a WR1

What made me buy a scoob

The average of 16.7mpg over 2 1/2 years

The need to replace a relatively unmodified engine with FSSH at 84k

The need to replace a gearbox at 76k

The need for 4 tyres every 10k miles

The need for brake pads every 5-7000 miles

The sheer feel of safety in the snow

The image that they now have

Dealers that should frankly never of been granted assylum here in the first place

The need to replace a MAF sensor and treat it as almost a consumable item, replacing it annually

Oh and the performance/road holding ain't too bad.......oh..... once you modify it to dial out it's inherrent oversteer, bumpsteer geometry etc, and after it costs you £24,000 in 26 months/40k miles in consumables, repairs and fuel ... magic
