Hi,

I have just joined scoobynet as I am about buy a new WRX. Today was the first time I have ever driven a scooby and it was absolutely awesome.

Can anyone tell me what are the pitfalls of ownership, plus can anyone recommend a really good dealer who would do a cracking deal?

Pitfalls are fuel consumption and high servicing costs.

When you say high servicing costs - how high are you talking?

So is the servicing every 6K and would that be a "minor" with 12K being a "Major"?

On a classic shape the services are every 7.5k or 6 months - whichever comes sooner.
Ever 30k is a major and every 45k a cambelt change. When the 30k meets the 45k at 90k, you don't wanna own the car

Oh bugger, well it's certainly detailed.

Taking the fuel and servicing costs - do you think the car is worth buying? It will have to be a wagon not a saloon as I have a couple of dogs?

My minor services are less than £100 at main dealer.

I've had one major one for £600 and one for £330. I've got the 90k coming up next !!!

Fuel's only as bad as you use it. If i am gentle driving to work (some motorway) i get 33MPG+.

Andy,

Is that a classic or new shape?

Service interval is 10k miles/1 year on a new WRX though, so the costs aren't that bad.
