the question was asking if this was related to slow downs over the last two weeks.
---
re problems it is causing currently, please give it time as requested. If it really does have a big performance negative, we'll have to review it.
Or.. if you feel strongly about it, please sign up for scoobynet plus membership and you can switch them off.
Regards
Simon

I think any performance issues probably relate more to the fact that someone chose to use Microsoft's goddamn awful scripting language for this board rather than a UNIX system such as PHP.
MS stuff is OK for desktops, but in the real world of the server environment UNIX is the answer along with a nice efficient scripting language.
As soon as things get busy MS stuff bogs down big time without shedloads of processing power and memory.
IMO that's why this board so often grinds really slowly or crashes with the now all too common 'Internal Server Error' message.
All in my opinion of course,
tiggers.

Thanks for your input. I do agree that UNIX has some great benefits, especially for web servers. But for our situation MS is he ideal solution.
ScoobyNet has been one of the fastest sites you'll come across for years now, and has been running on MS the whole time. Agreed it slows down from time to time, and we're currently working on a solution to that.
There are always alternatives, which have up sides and down sides. We chose MS, as do so many sites including some of the largest in the world.
All the best

Funny that - we must have a different meaning of the terms stable and 'from time to time'.
Just because many people and many large sites use MS doesn't mean it's the best tool for the job does it? After all it is widely accepted that Betamax was technically much better than VHS, but VHS became the accepted standard through better marketing. Now do you see a pattern here?
It is just my opinion, but when big corporations get their head out of their **** over MS UNIX/PHP etc. will clean up in the webserver market and deservedly so.
Anyway we probably won't agree so never mind,
